    Kasih Initiative
    Job Description

    The Role: Contract-To-Hire Grant Writer

Do you desire to make a real impact in the world with your writing? Kasih Initiative seeks a grant writer, initially on a contract, project basis, to do just this. We are anticipating 15-20 hours a week to begin. This is a 3-6 month contract-to-hire position, and we are looking for a candidate who would love this to become a full-time, permanent position in the long term.

You do not necessarily need any previous grant writing experience, as long as you have the qualities we are seeking. We are happy to train someone!

As the job title suggests, the main duty associated with this position will involve crafting persuasive and competitive grant narratives. This encompasses tasks such as composing Letters of Interest (LOIs), grant applications, project proposals, and grant reports. Additionally, it entails developing coherent budgets that align with the scope of work and objectives outlined in the grant narratives. While the majority of grant submissions will target private foundations, the role also entails completing applications for local, state, and federal grants.

    Additional tasks may likely include:

    • Client communication and coordination (email and virtual meetings)

    • Coordination with funders

    • Inputting information into our grant tracking and management system

    • Grant and funder research

    Skills we are looking for:

    • Strong writing skills (more technical vs creative writing)

    • Excellent grammar skills

    • Strategic and analytical skills

    • People/client care skills

    • Research skills (may be applied to reading funder profiles, finding grants, and researching data for proposals)

    • Collecting and organizing data

    Traits we are looking for:

    • Critical thinker

    • Takes initiative and proactively supports our clients and team

    • Dependable and trustworthy

    • Enjoys a mix of completing tasks individually with some meeting/coordinating with team/clients

    • Desire to make a difference and win money for our clients… perhaps even a bit competitive!

    • Enjoys completing tasks on time and meeting deadlines

    • Values having good systems & structure to follow

    • Appreciates instruction, feedback, and direction

    • Detail-oriented

    • Desire to continue developing, learning, and improving skills

Qualities you do not have to be skilled at:

    • Creating your own structure (we have systems and structures that we will train you on)

    • Sales/Marketing/Finding clients yourself

    Requirements:

    • High familiarity with Google Docs and Google Drive

    • Computer literate

    • Consistent, reliable access to a computer, high speed internet, and a quiet space for work and meetings

    • Some availability for set weekly or biweekly meetings during regular 9-5 mountain time business hours (other than that, hours are flexible)

    • Must be able to work in the US legally

    Education:

    • Kasih Initiative does not have a minimum education requirement.

    Compensation

This is a contract position and is not eligible for company-paid benefits. The expected starting hourly rate is between $20-$35 per hour. This is dependent on the applicant’s professional, technical writing (and especially grant writing) experience and education. There is room to grow in this role; we award hard work, success, and efficiency.

    Location

This is a remote position, but we do have a high preference for candidates who reside in Colorado or Wisconsin.
